According to a post published on a Telegram channel, the Arab National Bank (ANB), one of Saudi Arabia’s largest financial institutions, was targeted by a threat actor under the moniker SN_BLACKMETA.

The alleged attack specifically targeted the bank’s infrastructure. According to the threat actor, the attack was part of a broader campaign against Saudi Arabia’s financial sector. Despite the Kingdom’s substantial investment in cybersecurity measures such as firewalls, web application firewalls (WAFs), and DDoS protection, the threat actor boasted that they were able to bypass these defenses effortlessly.

The alleged attacks affected a wide range of ANB’s online services, including secure login access, account management, transaction history, and payment transfers. The bank’s mobile app was also allegedly rendered entirely nonfunctional during the attack.
