MANILA, Philippines – The Deep Web Konek Breach Notification Team has detected a post on a dark web forum, where a user, “newbieUser101,” claims to have leaked the personal information of Filipino citizens.
The post alleges that the leaked data includes names, phone numbers, and SIM registration details, supposedly obtained through unauthorized access to a telecommunications company’s system.
According to the attacker, the breach was facilitated by compromising an employee account, allowing them to access an internal portal and retrieve sensitive data.
As of now, our team has identified over 20,000 phone numbers and is increasing in the dataset linked to the post. Additionally, the attacker claims to have access to internal photos, suggesting a high level of access to the company’s systems.
However, these claims remain unverified, and further investigation is ongoing to authenticate the breach. The team is also considering the possibility that this data may be rehashed or compiled from past breaches, and this is currently being checked for confirmation.
In response, DWK has already alerted the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) regarding the issue.
