Manila, Philippines – Electronic Arts (EA), one of the world’s leading video game companies, is facing a potential data breach involving the personal records of nearly 35,000 employees. A threat actor has posted on a forum claiming to have exfiltrated a 2022 database containing sensitive information and is now offering it for sale at $10,000.
The compromised database allegedly includes detailed information on 34,993 EA employees. The stolen data reportedly consists of full names, work emails, phone numbers, office locations, and working groups. In addition to employee records, the database is said to contain data on 1,105 Microsoft Azure registered applications, 64,243 groups, and 8,073 contacts.
The threat actor has provided several samples to support their claim, asserting that the database has never been sold before. They have stated a willingness to sell this information exclusively to a single buyer, provided the price is right.
As of now, Electronic Arts has not confirmed nor denied the veracity of these claims.
This developing story underscores the growing threat of cyberattacks and the need for robust defense mechanisms to protect sensitive data in an increasingly digital world.
